KSAC to clamp down on illegal vending

The Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) has stepped up its campaign to maintain order within public spaces across the city.
The corporation's City Inspector Alrick Francis says despite this effort the biggest concern continues to be how vendors operate within town centres.
“What you find is that in these area vendors always trying to catch a sale are not operating in designated vending zones but are instead trying to bring their products to commuters,” said Francis.
This sort of practice continues to not only create congestion but also safety issues, the city inspector told Loop News.
To address the issue, KSAC officials have rolled out a number of initiatives as well as educational campaigns to encourage vendors and members of the wider public to support the agency in its efforts.
He cited areas surrounding the Half Way Tree Transport centre, Cross Roads and downtown Kingston as some of the locations where the problem persists.
