Popcaan spared deportation after assaulting Antiguan cop

Dancehall star Andre 'Popcaan' Sutherland was fined 2000 EC dollars after being slapped with two charges — battery of an arresting officer and obstructing a police officer — arising out of an incident at a Labour Day concert in Antigua on Monday.
"He was fined 1000 EC dollars on each charge, and he will leave the island [Wednesday]. There is no deportation order, and he can return to the island at any time," a representative of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, told Loop News.
The 27 year-old artiste pleaded guilty to both charges before a magistrate court in Antigua and Barbuda.
He was arrested in Antigua on Tuesday after an altercation with a police officer during a performance at Fort James which occurred around 2 am.
The conflict reportedly began when police officers attempted to remove an overzealous male fan off the stage.
A video of the incident posted online shows the deejay telling the lawmen: "Tek time with them police. Mi done tell you nuh deal with them so rough."
Popcaan then attempted to separate a patron from a cop, who reacted by pushing the Jamaican artiste.
Antigua's Daily Observer reported that Popcaan later left the stage when another conflict allegedly developed between the artiste and the cops.
Another video shows Popcaan being escorted by police officers into a vehicle
