Budding career': Co-conspirator in law student scamming case has bright resume - friend

Yanique Coach, who allegedly conspired with law student Teresa Wilson to defraud an elderly American of US$270,000, has been described by a family friend as an ambitious young lady with a budding career in the hospitality industry.

According to the friend, Wilson and Coach met at Westwood High School in Trelawny back in 2002 and had been friends ever since.

Wilson and Coach’s friendship was rather odd, as by all accounts, Coach was very reserved and Wilson was outgoing and popular.

“She was always running behind Teresa like a puppy dog in High School,” said the friend.

“Coach even got herself into trouble in the final year of high school because of Wilson, I am not sure they even graduated,” added the friend.

Almost immediately after high school, Coach went off to Johnson and Wales University in North Miami where she studied Hospitality Administration and Management.

Coach, who made the Dean’s List while at the university, graduated in 2010 and later in 2012 went on to pursue a Master's degree at Florida International University in the same discipline, graduating in 2014.

“During school, she worked to support herself, she started off as resident assistant and later worked as a hostess,” said the friend.

After graduating from FIU, Coach interned at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina for four months, and afterwards secured a permanent job as a Guest Service Agent at the establishment.

“I just find it so difficult to believe that Yanique would get herself entangled in this, she was well on her way in terms of her career, it is all rather unfortunate,” added the emotional friend.

Yanique Coach was named as a co-conspirator in the alleged scamming ring according to a legal document.

Law enforcement officials obtained telephone messages sent by Wilson to a Coach on March 19, 2015, instructing, “Check the stacks tho,” in reference to money.

Later on, Wilson reportedly threatened Coach in part stating that, “People belly go bang and U can’t step out fi sort out business and save u self… Weh U priorities.”
