Education Ministry puts a cap on secondary school registration fees
Speaking at the Tarrant Primary School Graduation in St Andrew last week, Senior Adviser at the ministry, Robert Miller, said information has surfaced that some schools are charging a substantial amount for registration fees.
Miller said that kind of burden is not in keeping with the current Government’s policy.
He also said all charges for school registration packages must be approved by the Education Ministry, before they are implemented.
He also noted that non-payment of registration fees cannot affect a student’s acceptance or placement in any secondary level institution.
Miller said regional officers will be more vigilant than before, to ensure that there is no deviation from the policy of the Ministry of Education.
