As predicted, Apple’s big event Monday brought smaller-screened versions of its most powerful iPhone and iPad.

Since the company’s new iPhone SE is essentially an iPhone 6s in the body of a 2013 iPhone 5s, and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro is a certifiable dwarf version of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, it’s true that the excitement in these gadgets isn’t really in their looks.
