Beyoncé releases ‘Lemonade’ with a slice of Jamaica

Pop superstar Beyoncé gave viewers quite a bit to taste and chew on last Saturday night when she released ‘Lemonade’.
The ‘visual album’ was aired on HBO, featuring videos for 12 of the 13 songs on her new album.
Quite notable among the lot was the song ‘Hold Up’, which brings attention to the Jamaican music culture. The song, which speaks of her cheating lover, has Beyoncé occasionally speaking in Jamaican Patois.
She has been known to incorporate aspects of reggae and dancehall in her music over the years, including in 2002 when she released the chart-topping single ‘Baby Boy’ with Sean Paul.
In her single ‘(Girls) Run The World’, she sampled Vybz Kartel’s ‘Pon De Floor’, produced by Major Lazor.
Beyoncé also has a remix of ‘Standing On The Sun’ with Jamaican singjay, Mr Vegas.
