Police seize five guns in West Kingston operation
Head of the Division, Howard Chambers said the raids have been ongoing over the last 48 hours.
In the first raid, a Tech 9. submachine gun was recovered at Nelson Street.
Following that find, a joint police/ military team went to Hannah Town where a Ruger 9mm pistol was recovered.
Another raid was carried out at Princess Street where a Taurus 9mm pistol with 17 rounds were recovered.
Hours after that snap raid, operations were carried out in the Tulip Lane area where a Taurus 9mm pistol with 16 rounds was found.
Authorities also carried out a search along Lincoln Avenue where a Berreta 380 pistol with 7 rounds was seized.
"These guns were recovered through a range of increase operational activities," Chambers said.
Police warn that they will continue these operations including snap raids, cordon and searches, stop and search, spot checks and vehicle check points.
West Kingston has been rocked with a series of deadly attacks between criminal gangs in recent months.
More than six persons have lost their lives and several others injured in the ongoing fued.
