Richard Powell appointed Pro-Chancellor of UTech


Former Victoria Mutual Building Society boss Richard Powell has been appointed as Pro-Chancellor of the University of Technology for the period April1, 2016 to March 31, 2019.
Senator Ruel Reid, Minster of Education, Youth and Information made the announcement on Monday.
As Pro-Chancellor, Powell will perform the role of Chair of the University Council. The Chancellor of the University is former Prime Minister Edward Seaga.
Noting that the period of Powell’s appointment will be challenging, Reid said in a press release that he had “every confidence” that Powell will successfully manage the task.
Powell, a career senior executive in the financial sector, recently retired as president and Chief Executive Officer of VMBS.
