Fourteen high school students in 'sex romp' released

Fourteen high school students who were arrested after being caught by the police on Wednesday afternoon at a house in Cooreville Gardens, St Andrew, where at least some of them were engaged in sexual activities, have been released.
They were released into the custody of their parents after appearing in the Family Court on Thursday.
The students were taken into custody by personnel from the Hunts Bay and Duhaney Park police stations following a raid on the home in question, which is the residence of one of the boys who were involved.
A 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were among the eight boys and six girls who were arrested. The others were all 14-year-olds.
The police reported that the group of students was surprised by a police team at about 5:30 p.m. Of the group, two ‘couples’ reportedly admitted to have been engaged in sex at the time of the cops’ arrival, but the others denied having been similarly engaged.
Arising from development, a senior police officer reportedly indicated that no sexual offence charges could be laid against the four students who admitted to having been engaged in sex, because they are all minors and the acts were voluntary on the part of all four.
However, all 14 students were taken before the Family Court, accompanied by their parents, on charges of being in need of care and protection.
A team from the Office of the Children’s Advocate is reportedly further investigating the matter.
