News of Reid-Jacobs’ death was confirmed by the police who said that the former politician allegedly committed suicide by “injecting a substance into her body”.
She was found by relatives around 6:30 pm on Sunday, May 8 at her Mountainside Boulevard, Long Mountain, St Andrew home.
All throughout the day, Jamaicans across social media used the opportunity to pay the respects to someone described as a hard worker and all-in-all good person.
Gretel Ingram-Smith wrote, “Very sad, may her soul rest in peace. OMG, what could have gone so wrong for [her] to do such a horrible thing[?]”
“I don’t believe, not the Faye I see every day and know...I refuse to believe this. Pleasant and jovial Faye? Nope…This not resting too well with me at all...” said Kerena Russell.
Shayne Fairman contended: “I really think Jamaica has been overtaken by demons and demon influences!”
The cohort of the JLP expressed shock at Jacob-Reid’s tragic passing, as according to party General Secretary Horace Chang, “This is totally unexpected. She was an important member of the party; committed to the principles and vision of the party.”
