‘Maintenance’ issues forced return of Caribbean Airline’s flight to Kingston

Caribbean Airlines passengers in both Jamaica and New York reportedly had an unplanned day of anxiety and dislocation on Sunday after a flight, which departed Kingston, was said to have been forced to return about half an hour after take-off.
The flight, which was bound for John F Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York in the morning, was reportedly returned to Kingston's Norman Manley International Airport because of what were described as 'maintenance' issues.
The development left passengers on edge both in Kingston and at JFK Airport, who reportedly grew frustrated despite the maintenance circumstances that were cited for the grounding of the plane.
The New York passengers were awaiting the aircraft which was scheduled to take them to Jamaica later in the day.
As a consequence of the grounding of the plane, the New York to Jamaica flight was rescheduled for the wee hours of Monday morning.
So far there has not been any definitive outline of the unusual ‘maintenance’ issues which forced the return of the aircraft to Jamaica.
