Met service puzzled by media reports of ‘active hurricane season’

Officials from the Meteorological (Met) Service Division have dismissed headlines in some sections of media that there will be an active hurricane season, noting that data gathered by the organisation shows otherwise.
"I have seen it in some sections of media, headlines saying that the forecast if for an active season and I wondered where that came from," said an official from the Met Service.
Comments made by the official was supported by Evan Thompson, director for the Met Service Division.
"Our forecast is showing a normal season," said Thompson, a day after a press conference and breakfast to launch Disaster Preparedness Month 2016.
The event was held at Pegasus Hotel under the theme, Plan, prioritise, strategies: Disaster impacts can be minimised.
Hurricane season started on June 1 and ends November 30.
