Ex-boyfriend remanded into custody for murder of Ocho Rios loan officer

The St Ann man charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend in Ocho Rios on Wednesday, June 29, made his debut court appearance before the St Ann Parish Court on Friday morning, July 8.
Charged with murder is 58-year-old Norman Thompson, alias Ned, a vendor of James Avenue in Ocho Rios, St Ann.
He is charged with the gruesome murder of 21-year-old Kyria Nelson, a loan officer of Pimento Walk, St Ann.
Thompson looked calmed and relaxed as he sat in the dock dressed in a grey shirt and jeans pants.
He was represented by attorney Oswest Senior-Smith, who was absent from court. However, his junior attorney, Ayana Royes held proceedings for him.
In court on Friday, the prosecution revealed that the eyewitnesses statements were complete and other relevant statements were to be collected and certified.
Thompson was remanded into custody by Senior Parish Judge Andrea Thomas until July 14.
Nelson and Thompson had a relationship that she tried to end.
However, things came to a boiling point on Wednesday morning, June 29 at Nelson’s place of work at the Torpedo Loan financing company in Brown’s Plaza in Ocho Rios where she was murdered.
The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) reported that at about 8:40 am, Nelson was allegedly engaged in an altercation with Thompson when she was stabbed several times and her throat slashed.
The police were summoned and she was found in a pool of blood. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
He surrendered without resistance minutes after he allegedly murdered his estranged lover.
