Taxi operator shot dead in Papine

A taxi operator was last night shot dead by a lone gunman in Papine, St Andrew.
He has been identified as 48-year old Christopher Baugh.
Reports are that the taxi operator was parked close to the Papine Market when a man walked up to him and opened fire. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The incident has triggered shock and anger among taxi operators who ply their trade in and around Papine.
An emergency meeting among taxi operators is being organised to address the high number of attacks against their members.
"Since the start of the year, a total of 20 taxi operators have been attacked and killed; we are concerned," one member of the group told Loop News.
