Holness pledges support for man with facial tumour

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has pledged support for Jermaine Barrett, the 26-year-old man who has been suffering with a facial tumour for close to two years.
Holness announced his intent to assist the stricken Barrett on Facebook on Sunday.
“I have pledged my own support to Jermaine who is in good spirits and remains optimistic,” said the post accompanied by photos of the PM meeting with Barrett.
Barrett has sought the assistance of the public to raise the US$150,000 needed for surgery in the United States, but very little cash has come his way. His story was highlighted by Loop News earlier this month.
“He's been back and forth between Kingston and Montego Bay where he lives seeking treatment. As it stands he cannot get the treatment he so desperately needs because the technology is not available here in Jamaica,” Holness’ post read.
He added: “Jermaine risks the possibility of brain damage and the loss of his left eye the longer the tumour remains and continues to grow. To assist Jermaine so he can go overseas to see a specialist. Send donations to ScotiaBank account number 960766.”
