Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, has died

Afeni Shakur Davis, the mother of late rap legend Tupac Shakur, has died.
Shakur is believed to have died from heart failure.
Reports said that Marin County deputies responded to Shakur’s home in Sausalito, California, Monday night after she suffered a possible cardiac arrest.
She was taken to a local hospital and died just before 10:30 pm.
She was 69.
Shakur, born Alice Faye Williams, changed her name when she moved to New York City and joined the Black Panther movement. She and other party members were arrested in 1969 and charged with conspiracy to bomb multiple, busy city landmarks.
Tupac was born a month after she was acquitted in May 1971.
He paid homage to his mother in his song "Dear Mama" in which he rapped about her dedication to her children.
"You was always committed, a poor single mother on welfare, tell me how ya did it," he rapped.
Shakur certainly fought for her son, especially after his death.
She reportedly filed an injunction in 2007 to prevent Death Row Records from selling any unreleased material from Tupac after the company failed to prove that the unreleased songs were not part of its bankruptcy settlement. She won her court case against Death Row Record to receive 150 unreleased songs and founded Amaru Records, named after Tupac forhis unreleased recordings.
Before her death she served as Executive Producer of a movie about Tupac's life, "All Eyez on Me," set for release in November, with Danai Gurira cast as Shakur.
Earlier this year she filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years Gust Davis.
