St Ann man caught at Falmouth pier with cocaine arrested, charged

A St Ann man, who was about to leave the island at the cruise ship pier in Falmouth, Trelawny, was arrested and charged after he was allegedly found with cocaine on Tuesday, June 29.
Charged with possession of, dealing in and attempting to export cocaine is 30-year-old Dwayne Shirley of Great Pond, Ocho Rios, St Ann.
Reports are that on Tuesday, Shirley was about to board a vessel when he was stopped at the security checkpoint and an anomaly discovered in a laptop bag he was carrying.
Narcotics investigators were subsequently called and two rectangular packages were found in a false compartment in the laptop bag containing 5lbs of powdery substance believing to be cocaine.
He was further interviewed and taken into custody, where he was charged.
The street value of the cocaine is estimated to be $7.5 million.
He is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court on Wednesday, July 6.
