WISYNCO back on track to meet consumer demands

Despite the impact of the fire at WISYNCO’s Lakes Pen warehouse, executives advise that the company’s production line is back on track.
Four weeks after the incident, Jamaica’s largest manufacturer seems to be well on their way to regaining normalcy.
Due to the loss of stock caused by the fire it was critical for WISYNCO to find space to store their products.
On June 1, 2016 the company opened warehousing operations in Angels, St Catherine. WISYNCO has worked hard to rebuild inventory levels and customers can expect deliveries to be near normal by end July 2016.
“This has been a trying time for us but I must commend the efforts and energy put out by our distribution, operations and production people.” said WISYNCO Chairman William Mahfood. “Four weeks later we’re at 80% of our capacity and I expect within another two to three weeks to be fully operational with all our products being available across Jamaica.”
In addition to acquiring temporary facilities for warehousing and distribution, WISYNCO is currently in the final stages of designing a new facility to be built at Lakes Pen. Demolition efforts on the old structure have already begun.
The next step is to begin fabricating the building off site. In approximately three to four months they will begin new construction.
“The Lakes Pen distribution centre was the backbone to the efficiency of our distribution - there is no doubt that it will be rebuilt,” said CEO Andrew Mahfood. “We are looking at a January 2017 opening on the optimistic side and a March opening on the pessimistic side.”
Despite adversity, WISYNCO seems to be stronger than ever.
Stock levels are returning to normal and the plans to rebuild are well underway.
“We are confident that we will be close to 90% in July, and I expect us to be back at full capacity by August,” said Andrew Mahfood.
