Taxi driver shot dead in St Andrew

A taxi operator was shot and killed early Thursday morning along Munroe Road in St Andrew.

Dead is Anthony Panton, 26, of a Papine address in the parish.

Reports are that about 1 am, Panton's black Daihatsu Applause motor car was seen parked along the road in the vicinity of Beverley Drive, with the left front passenger door open, and its engine  running.

On arrival of the police, his body was seen slumped  over the steering wheel with what appears to be a gunshot wound to the neck.

Matilda's Corner police are investigating.
