Missing schoolboys’ bodies recovered from the Rio Cobre

The bodies of the two missing boys from Tredegar Park All-Age School in St Catherine were recovered from the Rio Cobre on Thursday afternoon.
The boys went missing on Wednesday afternoon and were presumed to have drowned.
The boys, aged 13 and 15 years, reportedly went to the nearby river in the company of other youngsters at the end of a career day session at the school on Wednesday.
Later in the afternoon, the school’s administration was alerted by a member of staff of a query from a parent about a mishap at the river, which triggered enquiries of the boys’ whereabouts.
A search of the area revealed two school bags and a pair of school uniforms near the river.
A continuous search for the youngsters since then, involving the police, relatives and residents of the surrounding community, ended with the sad discovery on Thursday.
The search involved local divers, who recovered one of the bodies before being supported with specialised equipment from the police, which enabled the recovery of the second body.
