JUST IN: Court issues subpoena for Simpson Miller, Pickersgill, Paulwell, others in Trafigura scandal

Former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is among a number of PNP bigwigs who are to be subpoenaed to be questioned in the Supreme Court in relation to the Trafigura scandal.
Director of Public Prosecution Paula Llewellyn, QC, obtained the subpoena from Justice Lennox Campbell after the persons to be questioned failed to show up for court today.
They are being subpoenaed to appear in court on Monday.
Dutch authorities want to question Simpson Miller, Robert Pickersgill, Phillip Paulwell, Colin Campbell and businessman Norton Hinds about the $31-million donation to the party by Dutch company Trafigura Beheer.
On the last court date four years ago, Hinds was being questioned by the prosecution, which is representing Dutch authorities locally.
His questioning was expected to resume today but he too failed to show up for court.
The questioning is part of Dutch authorities’ international corruption probe of Trafigura, which is believed to have bribed several governments.
At the time of the donation, Trafigura had an oil-lifting contract with the then PNP administration.
