Power supply restored to over 60% of customers – JPS

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says power supply has now been restored to more than 60 per cent of its customers affected by a power outage earlier.

The light and power company also said they anticipate that power supply will be restored to everyone in less than two hours.

In a series of updates posted to its website, JPS has been informing customers about their progress as they continue their efforts to bring units back online following widespread reported power outages across the island on Sunday.

JPS said earlier that they were not able to say what caused the units to go offline, but said that a number of generating units went offline simultaneously, resulting in a fairly widespread outage affecting customers in several parishes
