Cops uncover crime trend on toll roads

Police say they have uncovered an ongoing trend where criminals seeking to evade authorities with their guns and other illegal items are opting to travel the nation's toll roads.

"It is something we have uncovered and are closely monitoring," a  member of the police traffic department revealed during an interview with Loop News.

"Based on investigations, criminals are opting to travel these routes as they are of the belief that they will encounter less stop and search operations," the police said.

He warned that, to clamp down on this illegal practice, authorities were now closely monitoring these locations.

Police, as part of their anti-crime strategy, have vowed to implement several initiatives - one of them is to carry out more aggressive policing on the island's road network.
