A NEW LOW: Lotto scammers now recruiting 6 year olds

Just when you think lotto scammers couldn’t get any lower they show just how depraved they can become in their bid to enrich themselves by destroying the lives of others.

"Criminals in the deadly multi-million dollar trade are targeting children from as young as 6 years old," a senior police officer told Loop News.

The trend was uncovered as police stepped up their campaign in schools across the island to educate students about the dangers of scamming, Loop News has been informed.

"We have gone into more than 50 schools and spoken to more than 10,000 students under the Stop Lottery Scam campaign and when you talk to the children you hear some disturbing stories about how criminals get them involved in the trade or ask them to move vital information from one point to the next," the officer said.

The revelation comes days after a Loop News exclusive that revealed a new trend in which Lotto Scammers are targeting some of the very persons who have been victimised previously.

In this new attack, criminals collect information of persons who were fleeced, and call them pretending to be part of local the law enforcement team investigating their cases.

The criminals would give the victims the name of a legitimate police officer and encourage them to check their credentials to ensure they are who they claim to be.

Victims are then told that authorities are planning a series of sting operations to go after the scammers and ask them to send money to fund the sting operation.

Police have since warned that at no time will law enforcers ask persons to fund their operations.
